A successful life insurance professional born in Oklahoma in 1897, Frank M. Engle believed in development of professionalism within the insurance industry. Accordingly, he shared his prosperity in a number of ways, including significant financial support of economic research at The American College. In 1976, Engle endowed an annual lectureship to create a forum for the dissemination of current economic thought. Each year the lecture is presented by a renowned economist and published in monograph form. The Frank M. Engle Chair in Economic Security was established in 1984.
