Some of the nation's leading "fuzzy-headed idealists" and "profit mongers," as academics and businessmen are sometimes wont to describe one another, gathered here this week, and their gentle behavior was enough to topple even the most durable myths and stereotypes. The occasion was a three-day conference on "The Humanities and Careers in Business," a "talkfest" that drew the captains of industry from behind their desks and well-known humanists from their towers.
