The subject of "hedging" has suddenly become a household topic of discussion. Formerly a relatively few used the expression to signify the substantially scientific practice in our organized speculative commodity markets of insuring a trade profit in the trade market by the making of an opposite transaction in the speculative market, on either the long or short side as the circumstances required.
